7 Signs You’re Taking Your Power Back

You might not have noticed the subtle shifts over a long period of time that your boundaries were systematically being eroded away. It’s only when you hit that point where you find yourself saying: “Wait a minute, how the hell did I get here?” that you actually stop and consciously begin to take back control of your life. Here are the 7 signs you’re taking your power back.

1. Who do you think you are?

The first sign is that you notice the liberties others are taking by overriding your choices, decisions and your free will. That wake up call has you asking (usually in your head at first): “Who do you think you are?” This is when you begin to remember who you are and that your personal sovereignty, or your ability to literally “lead” your own life, have been superceded by someone who wrongly assumes they have authority over you. You might start seeing partners, friends, sibling and co-workers in a whole new light when this realisation kicks in. I had a friend many years ago who thought she had the right to tell me what I could and could not afford to buy… very publicly! Later she began to tell me who I could and could not be friends with… needless to say she is no longer a friend and has been relegated to my “Who do you think you are?” pile.

2. The ancient history trap!

Loyalty is a very noble trait, but what happens when that loyalty, shared history and the guilt associated with letting go, grab a hold of your ability to expand and grow into a new empowered version of you? Well, the second of those 7 signs you’re taking your power back is that you are no longer being emotionally blackmailed by the people who are holding you hostage by your past shared experience. Blame, shame, guilt and other associated negative emotions, are a sign that someone is bound by a scenario that should have been left in the vaults of history. It doesn’t mean we cannot hold fond memories or learn from that history but we certainly cannot live there. When you can lovingly say to someone: “Meet me here where I am, or let me go.” You are growing and your power is flowing. You don’t have to stop caring or loving them, you just can’t stop your own journey because someone else wants to stay rooted in what was.

3. Everybody hurts!

Wow! (I have that song going around in my head now). Here’s the thing, ultimate power flows back to you the moment you realise that everybody is either hurting or hurting somebody else. That is a part of the human condition… the more we feel pain the more potential for us to inflict it on others. It doesn’t make it right, no, it just makes it less personal. When you take pain personally, you give your power to the pain or to the person inflicting it, instead of keeping your own power for yourself. When you begin to see it as a universal condition, you get to transcend it and return to inner peace. Suffering is a choice. This realisation allows you to turn the other cheek, act from a place of forgiveness and it also stops you from perptuating that same low energy in revenge, or in another direction. Your lack of response is within your power. Your forgiveness is the ultimate power that ends the cycle.

4. The vulnerable and the brave!

Authenticity is an all or nothing kind of deal. If you are willing to go all in and be your whole self in a raw and vulnerable way, you are setting yourself up to retrieve all the wasted energy you have been redirecting towards hiding your dirty little secrets! You know, like that junk drawer that has all your crap hidden in it whilst the rest of you kitchen looks like a Pintrest shot… life is like that too. And I mean everyone’s life. I once had a conversation with a friend of mine who was about to have a movie made about him. I remember him saying to me “I’m going to have to be whiter than white now…” (perhaps not the most PC wording but if that offends you then you’re not reading the right post and you haven’t met me yet). My response to him was this: “No you don’t, you just have to be honest about your shortcomings.” It made him stop in his tracks. I could hear the cogs turning in his mind and the relief starting to kick in. Who you are, what you think… that’s yours. Nobody else’s opinion counts, but if you hide it to appear to be something else, then your power is going to get sapped protecting you from being found out as an imposter. You take back your power when you say, “This is me. This is who I am. This is all there is… but I’m growing every single day so watch this space.” Now that’s brave.

5. Simplified and streamlined

Nothing says, “I’m taking my power back,” faster than the declutter! This is the systematic simplification of all areas of life and the need to streamline your time, energy, space and material resources. Let’s face it, life has become overcomplicated enough in our constant strive for more more more. We work harder and longer to afford bigger and better and we quickly lose track of what provides real value in our lives. You are taking your power back the moment you recognise where the energetic drains exist in your reality and begin to exorcise the surplus to rquirements stuff, plugging the leaks. These can be commitments, relationships, physical clutter, chores, etc. It can be scaling back on your outgoings and becoming a conscious comsumer… just a couple of months ago, I went through all my email subscriptions and saved myself a mountain of time and energy sifting through the inbox each day. I did the same with my bank account and saved a shit-load of money I didn’t know I was wasting. When you start streamlining, you start telling the universe that you know the value of your resources and you have the power to redirect them towards your highest good. Now you’re taking charge!

6. The castle caretaker

We only get one life. There’s a theory that each of us has a predetermined number of heartbeats before we move onto the next one… but none of us know how many that is. On the other hand, you could also argue that the better we take care of ourselves, the longer we get to enjoy it. One thing is for sure, the more you understand and provide for the needs of your own physical vessel, your “castle” you might say, the more efficiently it’s energy flow and regeneration will be. All too often in these days of modern medicine, do we ignore the needs of our bodies or abdicate responsibility for our own wellbeing, in favour of handing our care over to others to fix it when it goes wrong. As the castle caretaker, its your job to ensure regular maintenance and restoration of the place you call home: your body, mind and spirit. Sure there will be times when the caretaker has to call the plumber or the electrician when something goes wrong, but because she’s is in control of the day to day care (and she does an exemplary job of it), professional intervention is more of a simple collaboration than major surgery. Self-care and how seriously we take it on a daily basis, can be the difference between taking back your power or having it taken out of your hands completely. Yes its hard work for the caretaker to stay on top of the job, but the reward is a lifetime living in a beautiful castle. Your health gives you freedom, freedom is the power over your own life.

7. Investing in what invests in you

The last of those 7 signs you’re taking your power back is that you have withdrawn your energy and attention from everything and everyone that doesn’t contribute to your wellbeing. This is not a transactionary motive, you see value in all its forms, it is more of a conscious balancing of the unconditional giving and receiving that you allow to flow in your life. In the past, as your boundaries began to deteriorate, almost imperceptibly at first, you will have no doubt begun to give far more than you received. This, resulting in an energetic depletion across the board. Relationships in particular will have begun to show this imbalance glaringly as time went on. You were the one making the sacrifices and compromises, carrying the burden of responsibility and probably the bags! The”Who do you think you are?” energy in the first sign will be obvious… but now you are also so much more aware of who does nurture your needs and meet you with a balanced investment, giving to you in equal measure to what you are giving to them. Your connections and support systems no longer require you to provide more and more, instead they become mutally beneficial and everyone contribute to the wellbeing of the whole.

Recognising the 7 signs you’re taking your power back

You may not be all the way there yet. There will be times when you think you have cracked it and then you recognise a boundary or two being overstepped. It’s a fine balancing act, one that takes practice and dedication. Once you do understand the 7 signs though, which if you have been following for a while, you will also recognise as the 7 Principles of The Grail, you will have also equipped yourself with the tools to personal freedom, inner peace… and to creating better relationships.

Which sign is shouting at you today?

Leave me a comment if you recognise any of the signs in your own life at the moment. Maybe you need a little help to claim that power back for yourself? I’d be happy to support you on the journey here if it resonates.

Monday Mind Management – River Of Dreams

As the water flows gently downstream it is contained skilfully by the earth that forms its river banks. Winding so precisely in an orderly fashion, moving as a united flow as the crystal clear water does, the earth could be forgiven for believing that it has control over the water and is manipulating and directing the liquid into going where it deems necessary… take backwards step though and a geological tour through history and you will soon see that it is indeed the water that patiently and persistently carved away at the land, forming a channel of least resistance to exactly where it wanted to go… who here then has true control?

The river of dreams is the flow of Source energy that is an unstoppable stream of inspiration that we all have access to. Like the earth we become channels for its power and flow, but fail to realise that its the inspiration that shapes us rather than we that shape the inspiration.

There are also those who attempt to divert the flow. It’s a relatively easy process to dam up and siphon off the abundant resources and it will work for a time. In real terms that is simply about those who forget the river serves all and there is enough to go around and so instead of tapping into Source they simply take someone else’s interpretation of it… but the river keeps flowing and will eventually burst the dam when the pressure builds up too high.

All rivers, regardless of their given name, are born of the clouds and flow to the sea… along the way they merge into other rivers and we give them new names, they absorb smaller streams and claim the fresh water as their own, they flow around mountains, over rapids and carve out great ravines, they sometimes churn up silt and become impure along the way, they cause great floods and destruction but also give life and bring prosperity to those who honour the flow. As they spill into great oceans they lose their essential nature and become a salty storehouse of even more creative power that against all the odds somehow manages to still support life… until over time, drop by drop, they evaporate and reform the clouds beginning the process anew.

The earth needs the water, the water needs the earth… when they quit trying to work out who has power over who they may eventually realise that it is symbiosis that is occurring and that everyone would be happier if they each did what they are best at.

When the river of dreams flows through you, nobody can deliver it to its destination the way you do. Be the art and the artist, the magic and the magician… You are Source energy and Source energy flows through you.

Principle 1: I AM God, Principle 7: I AM Open-Hearted.

There is always more… later… x

The Balance of Power

Don’t be fooled into thinking that achieving Principle 7: I AM Open-Hearted, is possible in the purest form that you may be expecting. The human condition, as with everything else in the universe is built to seek balance and for every action, according to some genius or another, there is an equal and opposite reaction… we are literally built to seek reward for effort.

Having established this idea that some more idealistic light workers may rail against, we also need to accept that everything we do (and I do mean everything) is done with an agenda. Sure that agenda may be so deeply routed that you have hidden it from yourself but it is there I promise… The most giving person gets a kick out of seeing the joy they illicit in others, the most eloquent teacher has a desire to be heard and acknowledged, the doting parent to continue the family bloodline and to experience the power of having something so precious depend so completely upon you…

The transfer of power is the driving force upon which our reality is built. So being open-hearted is not the same as unconditional because as near as we can get to unconditional is allowing and acceptance. The true definition Principle 7 is to give and receive in equal measure… The balance of power.

Recognising that the input doesn’t always come from the direction in which the output was offered and that the universal Laws of Compensation and of Karma don’t always operate on a discernable schedule is all that maintains the illusion of unconditional to our self-congratulatory egos. Now don’t go berating your ego for doing its job, you can only be a whole being when you integrate your higher self with your ego and bring that shadow into the light.

When you embrace Principle 1: I AM God, you begin to understand your own worth and only then can Principle7 take on full meaning within your life… then abundance can flow through you, not as an idea or wishful thinking, but as a living energy where you stand as the lightning rod drawing down the grace of God and a divine dispensary for the very same… where the balance of power occurs within you, not to you, not in spite of you, it cannot bypass you… you become the prismatic transmitter at the centre of the story.

Saturday Oracle – A Narrow Window

Grail Oracle 3Grail Oracle Indigo

Being human has its limitations. As a species we live a linear existence and though we often stop to look back and around, time doesn’t appear to. This weeks oracle marries Principle 3: I AM Human, with the deep indigo of the brow or 3rd eye chakra and is focusing in on exactly that: our limitations. Well, our limited perception and perspective anyway.

It feels somewhat ludicrous to me that the point of the energy flow this week is that we cannot predict the future… and believe me, the irony that this is an oracle reading is not lost on me.

Let me at least attempt to shed light on the current situation. Do you think it is a coincidence that this combination has appeared at such an unpredictable time in the global political arena? Now I’m not politically minded, but anyone walking a spiritual path is aware to varying degrees that the universe is driven by the constant shift of power/energy from passive/receptive to active/aggressive. It’s simply known as the dance of yin and yang or the cosmic feminine and masculine balancing act and it has always been so as far back as anyone can remember. This constantly shifting power creates friction and in turn that friction creates change… evolution if you like.

I’m not pretending the uncertainty isn’t terrifying but that’s where this oracle begins to make perfect sense…

Being human as in the definition of Principle 3 means we are ego driven and that is in direct opposition to but essentially complements our divine nature. Without the ego, this battle of dark and light could not take place and everything would remain static… for static read boring and evolution grinds to a halt.

The ego though, is self obsessed and fearful at that, so when our limited perception detects an oncoming storm it freaks out and self preservation becomes its number one priority… that is simply because we have a view through a narrow window on the world. Imagine for a moment that Master Jesus, looking through a narrow window, denounced God to save his own life… From God’s perspective the current unrest is a singular manoeuvre in an infinite chain reaction and this week’s “outcomes” are not outcomes at all, merely the next vital step in our evolution.

None of the perceived potentials from our individual narrow windows look appetizing right now but that’s because no oracle in the universe, save God’s plan, can make sense of the overwhelming chaos and where it’s leading us.

There is a bigger picture here that we will only understand in hindsight. Right now you have a choice… will it be fear, or will it be faith?

JC climbed on that cross because he understood there was a bigger picture… he chose faith and put his ego to one side. He too was human… but he chose his divinity. Saving our own skins is what drives our egos but the ascension of all humanity is what drives the forward motion of all outcomes.

Whatever happens… believe there’s a greater good.

What’s It Going To Cost Me

Working with spirit is a never ending learning process. Each time you delve a little deeper or reach a little higher you are tested. I hope you enjoyed Monday’s Challenge post but in the grand scheme of things it was a relatively easy refocus… today I want us to walk the lesser trodden path.

Why are you here? It was a shocking question offered up to me over the weekend whilst working on my own ascension training and the magikal apprenticeship that we must undertake as a practicing Grail Knight… why are you here?… Er?

Understanding the Grail brings power, the power of God into your life. That power equals mastery over yourself, over your environment and over others… that is basically what power is, it’s influence. “So then,” posits my angelic guide having just set the challenge of all challenges before me assessing all the while what my reaction to the full-on course change being presented to me, “So then, why are you here?”

The answer was simple but I hadn’t seen it prior (not in this context anyway), I was so transfixed by the enormity of the quest I was being asked to achieve that the tumultuous notions flowing around my head consisted of only questions like: Why now? Why the change in direction? Why would God bring me so far to turn me around? Why do the angels want me to repeat that same pattern, build that same metaphorical prison? What if my life changes and I can’t complete it? What’s it going to cost me in time, money, physical effort? What do I have to sacrifice?….

Me, me, me, I, I, I, why, why, why?

So then, what are you here for?

When I calmed down enough to recognise that the challenge was not an actual instruction and simply a device to assess my response I have to be honest I was mortified by my own reaction.

You are here to serve… that was the light bulb moment. God bestows power, magic, wisdom and resources for one reason and one reason only: for you to further His plans.

Though I attempt to serve everyday, we all become wrapped up in the everyday personal reality of how things affect us as individuals but trust me, when a hero puts on a suit of armour and takes an oath as a Knight of The Wholly Grail, he must never again mistake Self-Full with selfish.

I’m here to serve (and now I’m applying Principle 3: I AM Human to forgive my momentary forgetfulness before I get back to work).

When The Fantasy Fractured

Trawling through personal history is not a healthy place to dwell but on occasion it is a good exercise to sift through time recovering the blessings, lessons and experiences that have brought you to this place we call the present moment. You see, only by embracing your personal journey up to this point can you see the pattern and pivotal happenings that drew you towards the choices that you are now faced with.

At each tough juncture along the road when the fantasy fractured you became a better version of your former self. I say “when the fantasy fractured” because each major turning point shattered the illusions that you might have held as true before.

Life is science, an experiment that appears to constantly yield failure and only when you refuse to be defeated by it, will you take those failures and let them guide you to your eureka! moment.

In order to move past the failures you’re going to have grasp the basic concept of self-forgiveness. If you’re going to embrace this aspect of healing then first you are going to have to quit blaming and accept responsibility… for your actions or in actions, decisions or abstinence from making them.

“I did that” is a powerful statement, and though admission of guilt is a negative self-deprecating and confrontational stance to be taking, that very same statement seen as an acceptance of responsibility not guilt, can be the grounds for positive personal and inter-personal growth.

Understanding your own power to guide your life journey the way you want it to go needs to begin with healing… healing the bits you felt you didn’t control, claim back your power now by identifying the choice… not in a coulda, shoulda, woulda pointless exercise, but in an effort to observe that choice is always present… it’s the potential consequences of that choice that frighten us into believing that our world’s as we know them might shatter… but get your head around the concept that its only ever to be reformed in a much better, bigger, more suitable configuration.

Embrace Principle 3: I AM Human.

The Creative Director

Grail Oracle 1Grail Oracle Orange

There is a fire that burns within you. At times this fire merely glows like a candle flame, lighting the way toward the next, or attracting that other towards itself. At times it rages, burning so hot that it hurts, and then there are times when it feels as though it has been all-but extinguished… but the flame is always burning. This power within is a force for good or evil, a tool for creation or a means of destruction, a universal energy built into every human being and its essence is that which imitates infinity.

The Creative Director, a combination of Principle 1: I AM God and the orange sacral chakra energy is the recognition of the power to create or destroy within each of us and the responsibility excepted or declined to initiate proper use of that energy.

This week you may find yourself in position where you can use your own creativity to help and inspire others, and to overcome problems with solutions that are “outside the box.” This is a week to do things differently than you have done them before, to look from a different angle and build something that has the potential to change the course of your life, someone else’s life or the lives of many. There is an air of uncertainty as you  enter into a contract with Source, a bargain which reads like this: “I’ll provide you with the opportunity, the resources and the means but you must then do something new with it, you must act with confidence and justly to bring about a profound shift.”

So what are you going to do?

Remember that free will allows you to either create or destroy, to bring together or break apart… that fire burns within you but the gift of this fire must be understood, tamed and channelled for good, should that be your will, and as a Grail Knight, that should be your will… but should is a word that overrides free will and that just will not do.

Choose and direct your power, its yours to do with what you WILL.

Make The Tough Choices

Powerful forces are at work in the construction of your lifestyle and indeed your existence but do you know where that power comes from?

I was contemplating this morning whether or not I should go deep or keep it light of a Wednesday morning and then it struck me: the choice was entirely mine. What then do we base our choices on?

The powerful force I’m interested in today is intent… and the choices we make based on our intentions. Just coming back to power for a moment, how scary is the fact that only you know what your true intentions are? Not scary at all if you’re coming from a heart-centred benevolent place which I hope you all are but let me put this another way, if it applies to you then it applies to everyone else… so how scary is it that only the person your dealing with knows what their true intention is?

There is power in a secret, regardless of the intention the secret is keeping, not knowing the plan puts you in a position of weakness and vulnerability and requires the trust of a child to navigate to the final destination. The power grab that is being played out on a global political scale at the moment is an example of this interaction between intention and choice… I’ll choose you because my intention is to do good… even if I don’t know what your intention is…

Of course the real power doesn’t sit in the hands of those vying for it, the real power sits in the hands of those who choose… I choose you/ I don’t choose you; I trust you/ I don’t trust you. You have a choice and that’s real power.

The power to direct your life has always been with you, heaven created it that way. It was only ever fear that allowed you to believe that you didn’t know how to take care of yourself, to make the difficult choices and moves, it was only fear that allowed you to hand over the responsibility to someone else to make the tough choices for you… it was only ever fear that made you believe they knew better than you.

If you want the power back, the power to direct your life the way you want it, here’s what you have to do to claim it back:

Decide your intention

Make the tough choices

Take responsibility

Commit to yourself

Understand that nobody else’s truth is ever any bigger or better than yours and if it feels like it is, learn from it, be inspired by it and up the ante on your commitment to embrace this new learning so that your intention and choices expand to reflect it… but definitely don’t go: “their vision for my life is better than mine, I’ll follow them and let them make the tough choices.”

You are the power.

We just took a short stroll around Principle 1: I AM God and Principle 4: I AM Truth (with a little bit of Principles 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7 sprinkled on for topping).
