First Monday Challenge – Do What Comes Naturally

(Reposted from July 3rd)

Crikey! How did we get to July? Well now that we’ve arrived and it’s the first Monday of the month, let’s us partake of the obligatory challenge day and do what comes naturally.

I don’t know about you but challenges have been coming up thick and fast just recently for me, but I’ve noticed a certain spring in my step, and though the onslaught of the next dilemma does momentarily knock the wind out of me, being solution focused and action oriented has provided a fairly delightful ride across the last few days.

On Saturday I posted the weekly oracle that was about making space for the new to enter, through self care and also surrender… but surrender doesn’t have to be apathetic…

Some things you have no control over. Some things you just have to wait for. Sometimes there is no obvious solution and you need help to find a way… a miracle to reveal the next step. Guess what I’ve been doing all weekend in the in between bits? Kitchen Dancing!

Yes that’s your actual challenge for today too: whenever you cannot control the circumstances standing between you and your next move you should do what comes naturally… find a space, hit play on the cheesy noise maker and freak out! (In a good way).

Some people will tell you there is a right and a wrong way to interpret music with your body but the truth is that your body knows what it needs to do and when nobody’s watching it makes no difference whatsoever… it’s purpose is to get you out of your head and move some energy around.

I’ve been filled with inspiration, joy, tolerance, love, excitement, romantic daydreams, and what’s more, the time has flown by whilst I’ve been having so much fun and I haven’t noticed the irritating bits between emails, programming errors,  migration problems in transferring my website from one provider to another (still on going so apologies for any wobbles in service). In fact, that has become a secondary focus to my primary goal: joyfulness in the face of whatever happens next (actually whatever happens next will have to wait for me now… I’m busy throwing some serious shapes in the kitchen.

Whatever shit you’re faced with today, in the immortal words of Miss Taylor Swift: “Shake it off!” Literally.

Principles 2 & 7

Now, I’d love to hear from you if you accepted this challenge… pop a note in the comments with the name of the song you’re dancing to!

First Monday Of The Month Challenge – Believing In Fairy Tales

Is it really April? Theses first Monday of the month challenge days seem to come along thick and fast and I’m wondering where the year is disappearing to?

Following on from the weekend’s oracle, I wanted to broach the subject of make believe and come at it from a slightly less pragmatic angle. No sooner had I posted the oracle on Saturday about distinguishing fact from fantasy and getting yourself firmly grounded in the real world, getting yourself out of denial if you like, than the universe began encouraging me to do exactly the opposite!

I was reminded of a long lost dream I had as a teenager and invited to dream the dream anew in a more updated and creative way, bringing my imagination into the real world to see if I’d like to transform the fantasy into a reality now, or if I’d like to put it back in the box among the other lost or wasted wishes… The same evening I was transported into the world of a Disney princess as I, (popcorn in hand), was subjected to a friend singing the entire soundtrack through Beauty and the Beast at the cinema… and the two of us completely accepting the normality of a talking teapot and chipped cup (because obviously that happens every day)!

All this got me thinking about the magic of believing in fairy tales, and how Principle 7 of The Wholly Grail asks that we stay open-hearted… having experienced this transformation on April Fool’s Day only added to the magic when you begin to understand that the story of the fool in tarot, is the story of innocence, an open heart and a belief in magic.

So my challenge for you today is this: as you keep one foot in the real world, doing the things that you must, taking care of business and honouring your mundane responsibilities, I challenge you to see through to the unseen world and find your own magic. A dream today might become tomorrow’s reality with a little planning, hard work and a sprinkling of fairy dust… just don’t lose sight of which world you’re in!

Right I’m off to dispense some daughterly duties doing household chores for mum, (and I have just enough imagination and belief in fairy tales left to conjure a few of Snow White’s bluebirds to help me along).

First Monday Challenge – Aligning The Crazy Internal Compass

It’s already March and the first Monday of the month has arrived to greet us with a challenge. Let us then meet it with an open heart and mind, not to mention great expectations.

Ask yourself a question to get yourself in the right frame of mind to enable this challenge to best serve you, the question is simple: “Am I going the right way?”

It’s not a trick question, and you may indeed be oriented towards all that is great and glorious but within you is a truth barometer that can detect the essence of a lie, denial, muddle or confusion. This internal barometer sends you messages constantly by the way that you feel, for example anxiety, apprehension, tension in the body may denote an untruth that you are telling yourself about the quality and validity of the current direction, whereas, joy, excitement, inspiration and expansiveness may be an indication that you’re right on track.

So ask yourself the question and allow the answer to arrive through the way that you feel.

Now for the challenge…

Did you just find out that your subconscious knows you’re off course? Don’t panic, the thing about this journey is that you can always adjust your heading and lay in a new set of coordinates, but the challenge is to first take a moment to check in with your compass: Source.

Altering course before you know where you wish to go or where your Soul wants to guide you would just have your ship going in circles and never having a clear indication of where you are, never mind what direction to take, so conscious contact with your higher power is the very next step to take. It’s all about aligning your crazy internal compass towards your intended outcome once you have determined what that is.

I know some of you maybe wondering what you really want out of life and have no real direction or purpose, especially if you have recently gone through a major life change or are trying to create one, so instead of specific, tangible goals, focus on how you want to feel… fulfilled, useful, joyful, adventurous, healthy, vital, loving, loveable and loved… how about those little gems for starters? Add your own and have fun with it.

Now all you need do is open your heart and mind to a new way of being, let go of everything you think you already know about who you are and what you’re capable of, and let God show you a sign about where to tread next… tread lightly and enjoy.

Happy Monday!

First Monday Challenge – Dealing With Separation Anxiety

It’s the first Monday of the month and of course that means I’m highlighting a Grail Challenge. This month, being the month of love and connection what with St Valentine’s Day creeping up quickly and all, I’m drawn to delve a little deeper into the notion of dealing with separation anxiety…

I’ve found myself immersed of late in various projects and attention grabbers, keeping me in the flow of my moment to moment joyfulness but then yesterday I stopped. It was for no reason other than I’d promised myself a complete day off to rest and recover and to do a drama detox from everyone else’s stuff… it was bliss, at least for the first few hours. I did the full self-pamper, mani/pedi, facial, body scrub, I ate lovely food, increased the water intake… basically did all the stuff that I should do to let my body know how much it’s cherished on a daily basis but I forget all too regularly!

What was I forgetting though?

You are the Wholly Trinity: Mind, Body and Spirit. I took care of my mind by giving it a drama detox, I took care of my body as above, my spirit though needed my attention and seeing as though your spirit is the essence of your soul, all the rest is just trimming.

Feeling anxious, finding my mind wandering into ancient personal historical drama and then into future potential dramas I have yet to create… finding my body becoming tense and demanding addictive behaviours to quiet the obvious void, it took me a little while to get the message… I was symptomatic of loneliness! You can be equally as lonely in a room full of friends as you can standing by yourself if you forget to come home to your Self. My soul was calling me to let her in and I had temporarily forgotten how to listen (and I do this for a living)!

So today’s challenge: spend 3 minutes every hour checking in with your higher self through meditation… your higher self is plugged into the collective, it is God and by embodying your whole self, you will never ever have to feel alone.

Principle 1: I AM God

Principle 2: I AM Detached

Principle 6: I AM Self-Full

First Monday Challenge – The Starting Blocks

“Welcome to 2017. Please remember to fasten your seatbelts and remain in your seat until the ride has completely come to a halt…” except it never really does come to a halt does it?

The first Monday of the year and we are all geared up for this universal 1 year (whatever that is), having survived by the skin of our teeth the “9” year of endings that felt like it went on forever at times and yet it seems just moments since I began a post with the words “first Monday of the year.”

What exactly does it look and feel like to be geared up for a year of fresh starts and new beginnings though?

Many of you will be holding your breath waiting for the new to come colliding in through the front door (and for a few it might), but for the most part this cosmic stream that we have placed power into mainly through collective intention is simply providing optimum conditions for you to create anew. The challenge here is when to begin and when to wait.

I know you’re already knelt at the starting blocks but the truth is that you may still be missing some vital information, inspiration, or the direction in which to set off running and so now is the time for reflection, meditation, consolidation and decision making, otherwise when the starting pistol does get around to firing you’ll be spinning on the spot losing vital energy.

Get a pen and paper, write down what you really want to create this year, as both tangible, measurable outcomes and as the resultant feelings and emotions that go with them… use the 7 Principles of The Wholly Grail as guidance if you like, they will provide you with:

Self- worth, Presence, Forgiveness, Authenticity, Freedom, Health and Personal Fulfilment and Balanced Relationships… that’s not a bad place to start now is it? Once you’ve got your list, meditate on it, rule out all the clutter and pare that list down to just 3 things (all the feelings, but just 3 actual goals). These are your priorities… your current hearts desires. This is where your energy should go and which direction you need to set off in when the momentum takes you.

Remember something else important too… when you set off towards your destiny, it sets off in search of you. That’s gonna be a bit shit if you’re running blindly in the opposite direction so get focused. What’s another few days, weeks, months?

When the ride sets off, it will be the ride of your life, but for now you have to wait for the rollercoaster to fill up with the component parts and players… prepare…wait…

Last One Standing

What’s your superpower?

I was struck by a realisation recently with regards to the trials and tribulations that we constantly find ourselves in, that we are looking at the whole thing back to front. As cycles and seasons turn we often recognise the patterns our lives follow and begin to feel let down when the same set of footprints appear to be trampled in what we hoped would be virgin snow or a new chapter of the adventure.

I noticed the amount of posts from friends on my Facebook feed saying 2017 is going to be different and I confess I had a momentary surge of jaded cynicism rise up within me when I remembered the posts from last year… saying the same thing… it quickly receded and was replaced by a sense of appreciation for what has transpired over the last 12 months, fully recognising the familiar patterns for what they were… aspects of my very own superpower waiting to be acknowledged.

My realisation constitutes a simple flip in perspective: begin to see your greatest challenges as a flimsy disguise for your superpowers…

For me, patience seems to be my life long lesson, my bugbear and karmic cross to carry through this lifetime… or so I thought until I flipped the notion and began to understand that my capacity for patience, waiting, endurance and sheer staying power is greater than that of most people I know… The things I’ve waited for in life, many would have (and indeed have) given up on years ago as I continued to believe and still continue to believe… Do I like waiting? Do I hell as like! I’m not particularly gracious at it either; waiting with grace being the very definition of patience… but I am invariably the last one standing in the game.

That’s not a challenge by the way, for any of my friends, acquaintances, clients and colleagues who think that its ok to waste my time on such matters. No indeed, my superpower is closely linked to my faith and my faith to the value of that for which I’m prepared to wait.

So now, using this idea by posing to yourself the question: what is my greatest repetitive challenge in life? Now sift through your history and recollect all the times you were faced with that challenge and survived it beyond the capacity of that shown by those around you.

See, you too are a superhero and now you’ve recognised your power you will never look at those challenges quite the same again and 2017 really can be a better year.

Feel free to leave me a comment on what your superpower is when you recognise it, I’d love to shout out to all the superheroes in my orbit.

Principle 1: I AM God, Principle 3: I AM Human and Principle 4: I AM Truth.

First Monday Challenge – When Not To Compromise

Along the path we often find ourselves, having completed a stage of the journey, reflecting on the lessons and blessings that came with it. We consolidate the ups and downs into wisdom by combining the new knowledge and the visceral experience, the memory of the pain and the pleasure into a metaphorical talisman of protection to remind us what pitfalls to avoid the next time around…

But this path is a tricky little sucker in that it disguises those same patterns with new faces, locations, situations and scenarios just to see if you are paying attention. The moment you complete the lesson, that’s when the test comes.

As its the first Monday of the last month of the year, no doubt you have had many lessons and many blessings since the year began, no doubt replete with many successes and many failures… the need for universal balance dictates that it should be so. So what of today’s challenge?

The universe is sending you an end of year test:

You’ve said goodbye to much, closed the door on some, closed the book on others… you’ve left the gate open for hopes and dreams but slammed your heart shut to potential pain… and here you are, another year gone. Some of you are celebrating an extraordinary year and others are sinking into despair and wondering why you’re here again…

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it is to recall all the times this year you were afraid to take a risk, afraid to step beyond you comfort zone. Don’t dwell there in victim mode asking “why me?” simply acknowledge you had a choice and thus empowering yourself to see a different choice when that opportunity arises again. Now, having done your retrospective risk assessment, look back at all the times you’ve compromised over the last year, all the times you caved in under either external pressure or internal habit or addiction… again, don’t dwell there, just acknowledge and accept that you had a choice in that moment however much it appeared otherwise and empower yourself to choose more wisely next time the opportunity arises.

Now then… The universe has decided that the lesson is complete. You will be tested this week, maybe even today… based on all you’ve learned, it’s your job to know when to take a risk or when not to compromise.

If you closed your heart to pain, you closed it to life and to love and to joy as well… when you shield your heart centre you will never be able to take a risk never learn to fly in an incredible leap of faith and you will constantly compromise on everything.

Isn’t it time your talisman was heart-shaped, open, trusting and full of wonder? Let love in.

Principle 3: I AM Human and Principle 7: I AM Open-Hearted.

First Monday Challenge – Do-over Day

It really takes courage to admit to yourself that you got it wrong, especially when you have emotionally invested in something. Each day you wake up and put your best foot forward further and further down a path that you don’t recognise or even particularly like, just simply because you made a choice somewhere back so far yonder that you don’t even remember when it happened, why it happened, or even if you dreamed it and it never actually happened at all… but you made a vow either consciously or subconsciously that you, until this point have felt obliged to adhere to until the bitter conclusion… did I just say bitter?

Seriously, who wants to end up bitter?

Seeing as though it’s the first Monday of the month and therefore challenge day, I’m challenging myself, and feel free to join in, in having a do-over day.

I’m not looking to repeat yesterday you understand, I’m more interested in unravelling a stuck pattern, a karmic loop as it were, that is very apparent in my life. I have on many occasions attempted to untie this knotty problem but the further down the path you travel the more complex the twists and turns of the story and the more invested you get every time you attempt to heal the faltering storyline. That being the case, when the knotty problem becomes so immense its painful and any move you make will merely increase the muddle, the only viable strategy is to throw the whole thing away and start the journey over…

“All that time, all that effort, all that money, all those tears… ”

Do you really want to add more of the same for more of the same?

A do-over day has to start with an honest appraisal of where you are, where you wish to get back to, what choices led you to this point and most of all the admission of full responsibility… taking responsibility is the most empowering mechanism for creating real change and its also a crucial step in embracing Principle 3: I AM Human.

Put your pride to one side, it’s nobody else’s business anyway, admit you made a mistake and get started on recreating your vision… this time the way you always imagined it could be.

Happy Monday… x

First Monday Challenge – To What Degree?

The Wholly Grail Principle I discuss least of all is Principle 5: I AM Liberated. This part of the Grail is associated with unburdening yourself from the excess material baggage that ends up imprisoning you into unhealthy routines such as working long hours or retaining stressful employment positions or other unfulfilling roles to maintain a lifestyle that, as a result you either don’t have time for or are otherwise too tired to enjoy… but this month as a bit of a challenge for this the first Monday of October, I’d like you to investigate the idea of time as a basis for liberating yourself.

Imagine for a moment that you were completely free… liberated… no plans… no commitments, what would you do, be, have, create or become?

It’s an overwhelming exercise for those of you who are used to being busy but I’m not asking you to be lazy, I’m not asking you to sit idle, I’m asking you to imagine and dream what life could be if you were free of the things you have to do to have the things you own.

Now don’t get confused here thinking I’m promoting vagrancy, or suggesting giving it all away like philanthropy on a never-before known scale, there are obviously things that we all need: basic shelter, food, clothing, relative safety, and companionship for example but to what degree?

Your challenge is to tally up the cost in time spent, opportunities lost, liaisons missed, smiles withheld, joyful moments unexperienced, memories never created… simply because you were busy maintaining the glitter.

I hope you find a moment in your schedule to reflect.

Challenge Day – Moonwalking Across The Heavens

It is of course the 1st Monday of the month and so challenge day is upon us… As your friendly neighbourhood Grail guide it would normally be my job to set such a challenge for you but universally speaking I believe that the bar has already been set.

As a non-astrologer myself but a keen dabbler nevertheless, I have been all too aware of the tricky little f**ker that is Mercury in retrograde, pretending it is harmless whilst moonwalking across the heavens. Now for those of you who have chosen to remain sheltered from the wisdom held in the movement of the stars let me put it in layman’s terms for you: Mercury apparently governs communication in all its forms as well as having a hand in with the technology involved in the modern day methods of delivering such communiques. Now had we been living in 1916,  just 100 years ago that would probably mean that the postman’s bicycle got a puncture or the horse needed a good blacksmith… around 50 or so years later some fella would be robbing the post train… but today, well!…

So me, what do I decide to do?

For approximately 3 weeks, 3 times a year Mercury pretends like its starring in a Michael Jackson video, dragging all manner of haywire technical shenanigans with it and that’s my cue to attempt to understand a whole new digital platform for communicating sacred Grail text with you!

At the time of writing this post I have spent hours weighing up options, confusing myself senseless, undergoing mind-numbing long pauses while my internet buffers and crashes and then taunting me with promises of the answers I’m seeking before it laughs loudly in my face and asks “did you mean platform shoes?”

Anyway here is the thing I’ve learned in the last few days of cosmic cruelty:

1: Timing is everything… Principle 2: I AM Detached

2: An open mind makes learning easier… Principle 4: I AM Truth (and I reserve the right to evolve).

3: Laugh at your mistakes… Principle 3: I AM Human

Right then, consider this your universal challenge: don’t take anything personally… nothing is as it seems.
