Battling with myself just now as to whether to write a Self-Care Special blog or give it a miss this week, I recognised in myself the familiar feeling of having pushed past my limit. Being Self-Full requires that you know when to rest and to know it will happen when it’s ready, life that is.
Deadlines are great for getting stuff done, they really are, but if you are the kind of person that has trouble listening to your soul’s voice and taking heed of your body’s requirements, then that deadline is goin to be the thing that you punish yourself with time and time again.
I’ve learned to honour the voice inside that tells me when enough is enough, so before I wrote this I took a few hours off to recoup some energy after a long week of juggling my own priorities and other peoples needs. We are in strange times at present and personal wellbeing is a high priority, as is managing stress. It is a fact that stress reduces the immune system and so its wise to manage your schedule in a way supports your long term dreams as well as your immediate well-being.
Nature is showing us that it has its own priorities and deadlines at the moment and funnily enough, they cannot be negotiated with. Crisis has a certain way of putting everything into perspective in a way that forces you to conform to the natural order. Your health has a natural cycle just like Mother Nature and when she says stop and rest, if you listen and act promptly, and you’re lucky enough, stop and rest won’t mean just STOP.
Everything has a timetable and you cannot force it nor can you hold it back so you may as well just get on board and go with the flow. It will happen when it’s ready.
To help you along the way though, try the following:
- Ask for help/delegate
- Leave space in the schedule for the unexpected
- Schedule in “wellness breaks” and healthy behaviours
- Fuel your body for optimum performance
- Learn to rest rather than quit.
- Sign up for my mailing list for more helpful tips
The universe will get you exactly where you need to be exactly when you are supposed to be there. I truly believe that. So as you glide into this week, can you let things happen in divine right timing and get out of your own way to take care of you first?
Let’s call it a challenge.
Love, Jo x
