If you didn’t catch the previous Modus Operandi posts (still available in the site’s archive) I’ve been exploring where our intentions to walk the path of enlightenment differ from our actions. Often we are in some form of denial about how effective our daily practice actually is and blinded to the occasions where we drift from our Higher Self’s encouragings.

Today then let me draw your attention to your failures… as if they need me to point them out. That’s the problem: we are so quick to intellectually and emotionally return to the scenes of our apparent inability to succeed that we fail to acknowledge the valuable lessons along the way. Principle 3: I AM Human, is the gateway towards forgiveness. Forgiveness of self as well as everyone else… for everything. In forgiving, we make a promise to ourselves to let go of the hurt, the shame, the self-abusive mind chatter and the limiting stories that go along with the prior failure… and a promise is a promise.

The realisation in the moment of forgiveness is that you went there but you don’t have to go there again, you know what lies down that road now. In reality though, we see the “I know how this turns out” and we think “what’s the point in resisting?” Why then is it so common for us to break those promises we make to ourselves?

As it’s Monday, a full moon and a lunar eclipse no less, I think today is a fabulous day to make a promise to yourself to not break any more promises you make to yourself. No matter what the past actions or outcomes, your soul is urging you to explore a different way of being, and to everyone else your word is your bond… you are just as worthy of being treated with that much respect especially from yourself.

Start by making an inventory of all the things you’ve promised yourself recently, reassess which ones are relevant to your present situation and plans for a brighter future and then take a look at your motives: is it for your highest good and that of those around you? Pick 3 things from your list that you can start now… don’t plan (if you’re anything like me then you’re a great planner and it can often be a form of further procrastination or an affirmation of how far from the target you currently are), just take the first step followed by small measured actions, you can always create the plan along the way. Yes I know that “failing to plan means planning to fail” in all that success training… but admit it, you tried that didn’t you?

The last thing to now is listen to yourself, your thoughts and your excuses. Remember now that forgiveness, “I AM Human” is not an excuse for not trying your best this time, but it is a full pardon for not quite hitting the mark last time around.
