Maintaining Focus In The Face Of Distraction

I’m devout in my spiritual daily practice, not for any other reason than it helps me stay well. When I say well I mean balanced in mind, body and soul, but over the last few days it has been almost impossible maintaining focus in the face of distraction.

Daily practice for me begins with journaling, is followed by meditation and I end the day the same way. I take a few minutes out in the afternoon to check in with my Higher Power (what I refer to as God, though I’m aware you may have a different name for It).

When that routine is disturbed for whatever reason, I feel the absence of focus begin to creep in almost immediately… you know that feeling that you’ve forgotten something important? Having that routine disturbed for a few days though, and I start to feel genuinely unhappy. I’ve been two days with a disturbed practice. It started on day one as a necessity and continued as an experiment… “what’s the worst that could happen?” I didn’t always have this routine and I must have survived before it or I wouldn’t be here, right? The experiment was kind of like seeing what it would be like to go cold turkey to break a habit… is it just a habit?

Daily practice, whatever it may be, is fundamental to my wellbeing. I used the word unhappy to describe something indescribable, but let me break it down for you:

No focus, no direction, impending sense of doom, overwhelming feeling of being alone even in a crowd, physical lethargy, headaches, anxiety, inability to cope with stressful situations, poor digestion even… all because I thought “what’s the worst that could happen?”

When Saturday’s oracle honed in on Self-Full Living (Principle 6), and particularly on taking care of your self-care/personal grooming in order to build confidence, it’s also worth noting that you are a human holy trinity: your mind, your body and your spirit require restoration and respect through meditation.

You deserve to be at the top of your own priority list, and a simple daily practice can help you achieve not just confidence but also health, happiness, balance, insight, connection and focus.

I’m off now to do just that before anything else.

Saturday Oracle – Free Your Mind From Worry

Worry is the single most useless type of thought process you can apply your mind to, and yet it is also a fairly universal preference. I say preference because we have a choice, and if we have a choice and still choose worry then surely it’s because we prefer it? Isn’t it time to free your mind?

This week’s combination includes Principle 5: I AM Liberated, the affirmation of letting yourself out of a prison born of matter with the highly spiritual violet crown chakra. These two are are a prescription for remedial action where worry is concerned.

So the potential for the week ahead then is finding yourself being drawn into negative thought patterns and false beliefs about something or someone, that have been keeping you locked into your current set of circumstances and unable to move forward. It’s important to get to grips with the fact that neither the object nor the individual have any power over you, it is your thoughts about the subject that control your action or inaction.

Interrupting the worry habit is key to rectifying the detrimental effects on your physical and emotional life and there are a few ways you can do that… this particular combination is recommending meditation as an antidote, distraction is another that simply takes you filling idle time where your mind has too much opportunity to wander back to the familiar, with concentrated effort or new learning.

Worry is usually about loss of some kind, whether that be loss of material attachments, loss of status, loss of comfort, loss of tribal bonds and relationships, loss of reputation, loss of health and finally loss of life. Worry won’t fix any of those things and that’s why finding perspective through witnessing your life from a higher platform during meditation can help you firstly release your mental and emotional grip on whatever recurring thought has you held prisoner, and secondly will allow your higher self to switch you to solution based deliberation.

You may not actually be in danger of losing the object of your apparent distress at all and in that case the energy you expend fretting about it may be causing issues of its own.

All 7 Wholly Grail Principles are free to view on my website for a better understanding of how this philosophy works to find peace and freedom in your own life.

Dialling Home To Heaven – Reverence in Meditation

Following on from the appearance of The Sacred Chalice in the Oracle at the weekend I thought it prudent to inject a little reverence into this week’s posts. I hope you enjoyed Monday’s insight and that the angelic grace visualisation helped to settle any disturbance you may be feeling as a result of the current energy flow.

Reverence is something that gets lost when you have fun with spirituality and you should definitely have fun with it. Life is supposed to be fun and God, The Creator, Source, Tao, whatever you want to call Him/Her/It isn’t judging you for it… you will not be smited for calling The Almighty “Big G” as I do, nor will the angels forsake you because you meditate whilst sat on the loo!

When things get a little scary though, when your world tilts slightly and you lose perspective and connection due to the internal mess that comes with change, that’s when reverence, applied sincerely, is like dialling home to heaven.

Sacred practice is a part of living a spiritual life: meditation or prayer for example, daily communication with your higher power is essential for maintaining a healthy spirit… for the most part it’s like calling mum and dad from your travels, laughing, joking, just checking in, but applying reverence is like turning up at the door and saying softly “Mum, Dad, we need to talk. I’m in trouble and I need help.”

The atmosphere instantly changes and God seems to stop what He’s doing for just a moment (and mum’s no longer washing up whilst your chatting, she’s sat at the table giving you all her attention, dad’s put down the paper and is staring intently into your eyes watching for signs of what’s happening in your mind)… everybody is paying attention… because you are treating this moment with a sacred trust and a sense of importance.

God’s always listening. He’d much prefer you to be happy, tuned in to the part of you that is Him, knowing you’ve got this, following your bliss and just checking in to say ” Hi, everything is flowing smoothly” but when you shift gear and really dial in… when reverence replaces revelling, that’s when you come home and recognise you are loved, and your Divine Parent will always be there to lift you up, bail you out and put you back on your playful path.

Light a candle, take a moment… and start dialling home to heaven.

Quiet Please, Im Processing

Whenever you are amidst the tumultuous workings of a busy mind, the basics can get left behind in the interior swirl. Personally I have decided to take the day off… I almost didn’t write a post except to get my head in the game, which sounds like a contradiction doesn’t it? Take the day off/get your head in the game???

When I say take a day off its a day off from drama, from external influence and from distraction and getting my head in the game simply means to reconnect to my own core goals and ideals through deep meditation and connection to the angelic realm for guidance on which way to proceed.

The clutter that gets jammed up inside your head stops you from focusing on the most significant Principle of The Wholly Grail and that is simply to recognise that you are in fact the creator of your own life story and you have the power to build the chapters any way you want. Principle 1: I AM God sounds like a big pair of shoes to fill but those shoes come in your size too and you are not expected to stand in anyone else’s.

Getting clear on where you would like those shoes to take you needs a certain amount of discernment… if you are caught up in the eddy of outer appearances then you will no doubt be feeling a little unsure of which way next and even if you knew, how would you break loose of where you are at the moment?

“Quiet please, I’m processing” may have those who are used to having your attention feeling a little put out, but for you to steer your ship you have to get everyone else out of the control room, off the bridge and especially to get their hands off the wheel.

Whether you need an hour, a day, a week or an indefinite time out, you are worthy of your own peace.  You are brave enough to place a “do not disturb” on the door, a “hold my calls” on the phone and give yourself permission to come back to YOU.

Might Be Out Of Balance

I’ve had a weird few weeks. Struck down by a pretty persistent chest infection about 3 weeks ago, I set about putting myself first in an effort to take my own Grail advice and embrace Principle 6: I AM Self-Full, the art of self-care. Being a healer, quite often we forget to do the work on ourselves and where our instincts when someone else is ill are sharp, under the spell of our personal infirmity we are quick to lose sight of the healing power for which we are natural channels.

All that being said, I invested in some cough medicine for a chesty cough… (have you ever noticed how many types of cough they sell medicine for? I don’t bloody know if it’s a dry cough, a chesty cough, a mucus cough or a bloody skydiving hedgehogs cough… I just need cough medicine)!!! Anyway,  The last thing I need is to be half asleep as well as barking like a dog so a non-drowsy formula was the order of the day… I haven’t slept a night since.

Arriving just prior to the newly nicknamed “frazzle moon” that I mentioned last week, disturbed sleep patterns were shunted into overdrive when a stream of near insanity driven dreams began to crop up, fielding a very abstract view of the current state of my life. Anyone else think I might be out of balance?

Out of balance is a concept that is often bandied around the MBS network, but what does it actually mean?

In Grail terms its a simple description of the 2-way flow of energy embraced by Principle 7: I AM Open-Hearted, meaning to give and receive in equal measure. We assume this to be about giving and receiving between people but not so… take everyone else out of the equation for a moment and come back to Principle 6, being Self-Full, how much have you given back to yourself this year? Think in terms of appreciation, gratitude, admiration, time off from external stresses. Think about the flow of energy between you and your Source, service balanced with meditation and rest for example.

Being Open-Hearted is a symbol of flow. Like the physical heart whose valves take in life blood and pump out life blood in equal measure, so too are you supposed to allow energy and life itself to follow this same path… like inhaling and exhaling.

For a short while I’m in the process of inhaling, the art of self care is the ability to receive what you need from the universe before you begin to exhale and give back. The season of good will doesn’t exclude you, make sure you’re being good to yourself.

To all my friends who are feeling under the weather at present, my present to you is simply to tell you that you don’t need permission to take a breath.

Internal Recalibration

For me, today is a day of internal recalibration. A time of stillness amidst the swirling energies that seem to swell and subside around me.

Want, fear, potential loss, desire, all crescendo within the human condition and you can choose to acknowledge or suppress the underlying cause or you can choose to dance with it… deep within, knowing who you are is the answer to all your needs, the balm for all your pain… knowing that every fibre of your being is an expression of the divine, that you are God, is the truth you must touch in order to honour your own soul’s immorality and so find peace.

A moment or two dedicated to stillness, to meditate, to sit in silence, free from thoughts and fears… existing outside your perceived limits as pure Source energy, without the boundaries of space and time, knowing that everything is present and nothing is excluded, allowing the notion that all serves: dark and light, good and bad… that opinion is merely an expression of a limited experience and beyond the linear all view points exist and are accessible simple by accepting that all is a possibility.

Personal internal recalibration isn’t about asking questions, it’s about allowing the simple truth to filter in through the stillness… the simple truth that you are the answer… God is the answer, whatever you choose to call “All that there is,” that’s the answer.

Principle 1: Who am I? What’s my purpose? Which way should I go? Upon what can I depend?

I AM God… and that is all.

Is That It?

It’s the 1st Monday of the month and that makes it challenge day! I don’t know why I picked the 1st Monday to issue a Grail Challenge but that seems to be how it fell.

Today really is a challenge for me this month because I’m dealing with a five specific personal dilemmas that are taxing my brain a little more that usual and all seem to have come to a head at the same time, they involve: work, relationships in one form or another, time management, health and Divine Service… some of these issues overlap and some stand alone but each has an effect on the others and today it’s imperative that I get my head around prioritising each to bring balance back to an otherwise beautiful day.

Getting caught up in an intricate web of how-to’s can bring life and order to a standstill pretty quickly when you allow the overwhelm to kick in and I for one am pretty fed up with allowing things to get that far so here’s your challenge and certainly the one I’m employing today:

Stop, relax, pray for guidance and then allow time to meditate upon the answers.

What do you mean “Is that it?” Yes, that’s it!

Your challenge is to find silence for just a short time in which perspective can flood back to you along with the answers to all your dilemmas. Give it to God. After all, that part of you that is Him already knows what to do.

Principle 1: I AM God.

An Empty Vessel

Grail Oracle Chalice

It’s been only a very short space of time since The Sacred Chalice was pulled from the deck and today it almost fell out.

The Intuitive Chalice Oracle is a tool for diagnosis, inspiration, guidance and personal healing as well having predictive capabilities. It includes 7 Principle Cards along with 7 Chakra Cards making a possible 49 combinations, each combination has a positive and a negative possibility creating 98 interpretations… but then there’s the wild card: The Sacred Chalice, a card that when chosen requires no chakra card to accompany it as it has one of two opposing and yet replete messages neither leaving room for anything else…

Message 1: You are full

Message 2: You are empty

The first requires nothing but your complete appreciation of all the goodness that has manifested for you as a result of either your own sense of wholeness or as a result of miraculous intervention and the second leaves no room for anything but your full focus on creating that state.

An Empty Vessel is the latter and this week sees your need to drop all superfluous ambitions in favour of a singular dedication to your mind, body and soul’s need for nourishment, care and meaning. This may be a time where you feel the need to withdraw from your social and public duties and find solace in prayer, meditation, and other sacred ritual.. whatever works for you. That might be running for some, reading for others… every person is unique and so too are their methods for self renewal. This time is not about resting exactly, more about taking gentle positive action without need for sudden movement or knee-jerk reactive approaches. Allow your inner self to slide into slow motion no matter how fast the outside world is moving.

Once you reconnect with the true source of your power, your Sacred Chalice will refill and normal service will resume without you having to think too much about it.

Remember that an empty vessel is not always a negative thing, sometimes it’s just a perfect place to fill with love and light.

The Refining Chamber

Grail Oracle 6Grail Oracle Violet

You’ve been busy creating. I’m not just talking about the last few days, weeks or even months, I’m talking about years. Years of ideas and dreams, some good, some brilliant; they have carried you through highs and lows, ignited your imagination and sparked impossible journey’s that have time and time again proved that you are a Grail Knight extraordinaire… every creation a piece of the orchestra and the symphony you are writing is reaching a crescendo…

The combination I have picked for us all this week is marrying the energies of Principle 6: I AM Self-Full with the violet of the crown chakra, the chakra of divine inspiration and the most powerful of the 3rd dimensional chakras, activated by meditation and during dreamstate… Why though, is this about creation? Actually its not. Imagine for a moment that symphony I was talking about. When you started it all those years ago you were playing a different tune, banging a different drum. Every creation since has added to the music you’re hearing now and lets face it, this crescendo is in parts excruciating… so much so that you can no longer hear the beautiful song in your heart

All those Mozart’s among us will be aware that a harmonious arrangement is more about what you leave out than what you put in… but you didn’t know that when you started did you? You just kept adding to your creations whenever a good idea popped into the mix. The Refining Chamber can only be reached by paring back the layers of outdated used-to-be-me-but-I-don’t-fit-that-mould-anymore ideas, until all that can be heard is the still small voice within, the solo violin that blesses the next step of your journey.

I know you are thinking “But I worked so hard on that, it seems a shame to waste it.” Trust me, nothing has been wasted, it has all been about the very next step and the very next step has to be all about who you are now not who you were then… can you hear that whisper in all this noise? Do you know who you are?

Meditate; strip away all that isn’t necessary; listen before you speak; watch before you act; think before you create, and allow yourself to be led to your as yet unimagined destiny that will be so much more than you can currently comprehend…

Now that’s a piece of music I’d pay money to listen to.

Blessed be your journey… more next week… x
