Might Be Out Of Balance

I’ve had a weird few weeks. Struck down by a pretty persistent chest infection about 3 weeks ago, I set about putting myself first in an effort to take my own Grail advice and embrace Principle 6: I AM Self-Full, the art of self-care. Being a healer, quite often we forget to do the work on ourselves and where our instincts when someone else is ill are sharp, under the spell of our personal infirmity we are quick to lose sight of the healing power for which we are natural channels.

All that being said, I invested in some cough medicine for a chesty cough… (have you ever noticed how many types of cough they sell medicine for? I don’t bloody know if it’s a dry cough, a chesty cough, a mucus cough or a bloody skydiving hedgehogs cough… I just need cough medicine)!!! Anyway, ┬áThe last thing I need is to be half asleep as well as barking like a dog so a non-drowsy formula was the order of the day… I haven’t slept a night since.

Arriving just prior to the newly nicknamed “frazzle moon” that I mentioned last week, disturbed sleep patterns were shunted into overdrive when a stream of near insanity driven dreams began to crop up, fielding a very abstract view of the current state of my life. Anyone else think I might be out of balance?

Out of balance is a concept that is often bandied around the MBS network, but what does it actually mean?

In Grail terms its a simple description of the 2-way flow of energy embraced by Principle 7: I AM Open-Hearted, meaning to give and receive in equal measure. We assume this to be about giving and receiving between people but not so… take everyone else out of the equation for a moment and come back to Principle 6, being Self-Full, how much have you given back to yourself this year? Think in terms of appreciation, gratitude, admiration, time off from external stresses. Think about the flow of energy between you and your Source, service balanced with meditation and rest for example.

Being Open-Hearted is a symbol of flow. Like the physical heart whose valves take in life blood and pump out life blood in equal measure, so too are you supposed to allow energy and life itself to follow this same path… like inhaling and exhaling.

For a short while I’m in the process of inhaling, the art of self care is the ability to receive what you need from the universe before you begin to exhale and give back. The season of good will doesn’t exclude you, make sure you’re being good to yourself.

To all my friends who are feeling under the weather at present, my present to you is simply to tell you that you don’t need permission to take a breath.

I’ve Reached My Limit

I’ve been thinking a lot about priorities of late and more specifically what mine are, and then out of the blue at about 1.30 this morning I had a moment of sudden clarity that I’d had everything upside down…

It sometimes takes an emergency to help you re-evaluate your plans for the future and where you yourself fit into them, what you’re willing to accept and where your boundaries truly are. The last two days have been a bit of a whirlwind albeit a short-lived one that have seen the foundation’s of my own reality get a little shaken like the proverbial tower in the tarot deck… luckily the tower didn’t fall this time but it’s only a matter of time before it does… Life is so very precious… love is a gift… family is everything.

My priorities have had me testing the strength of my roots and calculating what I was prepared to give up for something apparently greater for quite some time and I know now what the answer is…

Have you every been in a position where you have had to choose one way of life over another, one person over another, one location over another? I’ve been freeing myself up from all my ties and anchors for years in order to make that choice an easy one but in the early hours of the morning I realised something… I don’t want to. There is something in my current life that I love so very dearly that to leave would be the end of who I truly am… that’s not to say that there isn’t a place for my dreams to arrive and set up camp here, I’ve left the door open and made a space, in my life, in my heart, in my schedule and even in my home to create something amazing, but right here has something for me that the rest of the world is missing and until the inevitable day that she no longer exists in physical form… I’m home.

When you evaluate what’s really true for you, start by focusing on what you already have that you love before you ponder what you haven’t yet got that you would like… that new thing will come with needs, boundaries and conditions… make sure you don’t give up yours to achieve it… your dreams may have to be malleable to accommodate what already exists in your reality. I always ask “What are you prepared to give up?” Well, I’ve reached my limit. Nothing more for now… I’ve been accommodating enough and now it’s someone else’s turn to do the compromising and meet me half way.

Principle 1: I AM God (and I matter)

Principle 2: I AM Detached (and what’s present is what’s important)

Principle 4: I AM Truth (and I won’t ignore what’s true for me now)

Principle 5: I AM Self-Full (and this is what I need).

Priorities change… forgive me if I move you down the list… though you are pretty high up there, the only person at the top… is me.

Redress The Discord

The entire movement of the universe is motivated by growth and instructed by balance, you’re no different. The macrocosmic experience is mirrored by the microcosm in ever aspect of existence. This being the case it stands to reason that all our relationships are built on these two concepts too.

Over the last few days I’ve been investing my time in assessing the areas of my life that are out of balance, knowing full well that the point of balance is where the Grail is at its fullest and most evident in our lives… I’ve been investigating where my health is out of balance, where my finances are out of balance, where my focus and working life is out of balance and of course where my relationships are out of balance… but how do you know when your relationships are out of balance?

Principle 7: I AM Open-Hearted is an interesting concept because at its most basic it means allowing everything and everyone to enter and leave your life without it diminishing your love for them, this encompasses other Principles: those of detachment and liberation, but there is another much more elusive aspect to being Open-Hearted and that is the ability to allow yourself to give and receive in equal measure.

Allowing yourself to be compensated for expenditure of energy is a vital component in maintaining personal balance and nowhere are we more drained than by unbalanced relationships. Ask yourself: Am I getting as much as I’m giving? This is by no means a mercenary attitude and requires careful consideration as you may, upon deeper inspection, find that the universe is rewarding you from another source allowing you to continue to serve. The best way to understand how balanced a relationship is, is to observe the feeling going on within your own solar plexus each time you think about the other person involved… describe this feeling to yourself and if it’s unpleasant then maybe its time to either redress the discord or to cut loose completely…

Now if the membership section of the site were up and running today, Grail Knights would be able to access a Karmic Assessment Exercise to see how balanced their relationships are…

…but as its not available yet I’ll have to leave you to your own devices… it’s coming soon.
